One-Jump Drills
You will be ready to add one jump
quickly, often after just one or two
sessions of ground work. Simply run
toward the jump. Your forward motion
toward the jump should cue the dog
to take the jump. Just as the dog is
about to jump, execute the lateral
motion cue. Just take the one step
sideways. Do not rotate into either a
pull or a front cross. Stay facing the
original direction and have a big party
when the dog turns in to face you. The
dog will be turning 180° for his reward
after he takes the jump.

Two-Jump Drills
When adding the second jump remember to execute the move in the same way
that you did in the ground work and in the one-jump work. Your homework with
two jumps is done on two basic jump configurations: parallel and end to end.

Set your jumps about 20ft. apart. Initially, start your dog close to jump #1. Add
momentum by increasing the dog's starting distance from jump #1. This creates
more speed and an opportunity for you to perfect your timing on jump #2.
