Maximizing training time means I chose to train first what I wish I had most! Seeing more judges using tunnels in interesting and creative ways has motivated me to have tunnel entry and exit performances that are increasingly independent of my location and more supportive of the dog's path I am hoping to achieve. The literal loss of connection while my pup is in the tunnel creates a whole different type of challenge. So this month's drills are designed to help develop more precise tunnel skills while also providing plenty of opportunities for teams to practice transitions between the dog's handler- and obstacle-focus. Included are some sequence suggestions for Beginning/Novice level teams in Figures 1 and 2 and Advanced/Master level teams in Figures 3 and 4. Try them and then try some of your own!
