North American Dog Agility Council By Sharon Nelson I would like to share some information about the NADAC FUN-raiser trials and the teams that host them. FUN-raiser trials are fully sanctioned events. Exhibitors earn placement ribbons and qualifying points toward titles and special awards.We also give out NATCH and MEDAL pins for those completing the requirements at a FUN-raiser trial. NADAC strives to keep these trials affordable and enjoyable. We are proud of our FUN-raiser teams for their ability to run efficient, competitive events while keeping the atmosphere supportive and enjoyable. These trials are supported by the volunteer efforts of judges and exhibitors and without the incredible help we receive, we would be unable to offer them. For the past three-plus years, team members and seasoned judges, Bruce and Marj Vincent, have hit the FUN-raiser trail in late January, not returning to the Oklahoma home base until after the Championships in September. This team has hosted trials along the coast of California, Oregon, Washington, and into Idaho and Montana. They’ve visited Colorado on occasion and in the fall they’ve gone to our neighbors in the South and hosted trials in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi. They’ve added the International Peace Garden, Boissevain, Manitoba, Canada to their 2009 schedule. If you go to FUN-raiser trials in the above areas, you’ll likely meet Bruce and Marj! NADAC FUN-raiser trials are also supported by our friends to the North and hosted by Blair and Audrey Bloxham, Toni Pearce, and Gro Aasgaard in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Steve Stochaj and Nancy Chanover in Las Cruces, New Mexico; Nadia and Stan Barrett in Killawog, New York; Dwayne and Lisa Bonker in Gray Summit, Missouri, and Tennessee. Each year, Ron Young hosts the Toys for Tots NADAC FUN-raiser trial in Youngsville, North Carolina, bringing Christmas to children who may not otherwise celebrate. Amanda Williams, with support from Ron and Anne Etherton, hosted a July trial at the WAGS for Wishes extravaganza in southern California. This year, we added a FUN-raiser, hosted by Sunny Williams and Don Cuda, to southern Texas. It was very well received and I’m certain you’ll see more NADAC in the area. Don and Sunny also help to host the trials in Gray Summit, Missouri, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and in Calera, Oklahoma. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Bruce and Emily Glatzel who are long-time NADAC supporters. It is through their efforts that NADAC has seen a spurt of growth in the southern states. Another husband and wife team, Gary and Lori Visintainer, are instrumental in hosting the trials in Moab, Utah, in Gillette, Wyoming, and in Maybell, Colorado. It is through their tireless efforts, good humor, and expertise that these trials have become so popular. I am eternally grateful for the help and support they give me during this trial circuit. Each of the above teams receives support from other judges and exhibitors in their area. While I’m unable to name each of you, please know that your support is appreciated. Proceeds from the Toys for Tots and WAGS for Wishes FUN-raiser trials were donated in support of the children. All other proceeds from the FUN-raiser trials are returned to exhibitors in the form of special awards for yearly accomplishments and are used to help offset the cost of the awards that are offered at the Championships each year. Unique among agility organizations,TDAA is member-run.Our nominating committee has just selected a slate of candidates for the Board of Directors for terms beginning in 2009.
