Effective January 1, 2008, ASCA is changing the opening time and points required in the Gamblers class.The opening period for Gamblers will be 30 seconds for all dogs.The minimum points required in the opening sequence will be 21 for Elite, 18 for Open, and 15 for Novice. A few other changes to the rule book have been made to clarify existing rules. The ASCA Agility Rule Book can be downloaded from the ASCA website (www.asca.org.) You can earn it in any of the divisions: Competition, Select,Veterans, Grand Vets, and Junior Handler.This includes those who jump 4" in Select. We are excited to announce that DOCNA’s ﬁrst Merit of Excellence Award (MEX) was earned on July 15, 2007! DOCNA would like to congratulate Darryl Warren and his Golden Retriever, Dixie, from Barto, Pennsylvania, who earned the ﬁrst Merit of Excellence Award. Darryl completed the requirements of the Merit of Excellence at the Bouncin’ Bowsers trial in Allentown, Pennsylvania. We are also happy to announce DOCNA’s ﬁrst Merit of Excellence achiever in the West and second overall to get our championship award. Christa Beauchat and Sadie, a nine-year-old Veteran All-American from Salt Lake City,Utah,earned their MEX title on September 16,2007 in Peyton, Colorado at Paws 4 Friendship Dog Sports with a great Strategic Time Gamble run. DOCNA’s First National Championships, called The Great DOCNA Chute-Out, were held Oct 5-7, 2007 in Buckeye, Arizona (West) and Hamden, Connecticut (East). The National Championships were attended by 159 handlers and 224 dogs for a total of 1654 runs. DOCNA would like to thank all the competitors, sponsors, and volunteers that helped make this ﬁrst National Championships a success. We are pleased to announce that the 2008 date for the Eastern and Western Championships is October 3-5, 2008. The Eastern Championships will be hosted by 3D Dog Training, LLC and will be held in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area, while the Western Championships will be hosted by DOCNA and held in the Phoenix, Arizona, area.
