Backyard Dogs
By Mary Ellen Barry This month’s “Backyard Dogs” exercises focus on curved pipe tunnels, including entrances and exits, handling from the back side, and layering. Figure 1: Start with the dog on your left. Do a front cross or a blind cross at the #3 tunnel and pick the dog up on your right. Your cross should be completed and you should be presenting the #4 jump as the dog exits the tunnel. Finish with the dog on your right. Figure 2: Do a lead-out push or a front cross from #2 to #3, so that the dog is entering the tunnel off your right. Finish with the dog on your right. Figure 3: Start with the dog on your right. Send the dog to the #5 tunnel while you stay on the back side. Pick up the dog on your right as he exits and keep him on your right through #9. Figure 4: Do a threadle from #2 to #3 so that the dog is entering the tunnel off your right. Do a front cross while the dog is in the tunnel so he is on your left as he exits. Keep him on your left through #8.
