September has rolled around again, which means we’re heading off to San Diego to attend the annual ACCE conference. All of the CMI editors will be there — and we’re all looking forward to meeting new people and catching up with old acquaintances. ACCE has always been a great opportunity for us to socialize, check out new products and services, and to have some “face time” with our readers to find out more about their top management challenges. I’m very excited about the conference this year. If I had to choose one word to describe it, it would be “innovative. ” Expect to see a wide range of cutting-edge applications and tools in the exhibit hall, and to hear about very progressive practices and strategies in the sessions and workshops. There’s so much going on, it can be a little overwhelming. Rest assured though, we thought of that — and we’re prepared to help you get the most out of the show. Every year, the editorial staff participates in the conference in various ways — from helping to shape the program content to moderating sessions to leading site tours. This year is no different. The editors will be involved in several creative presentations, including a live talk show to kick off the main conference days. Look for Joe Fleischer and Janie Iadipaolo on stage Tuesday morning (Sept. 11), as they interview speakers and run through the days’ events. On Wednesday (Sept. 12), come early to enjoy a continental breakfast while being entertained by Greg Levin and ICMI Senior Consultant Dan Rickwalder and their guests. Dan is just one of our ICMI consultants who are making themselves available during the show for free advice. If you have a management challenge that you’d like help with, be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to meet one-on-one with one of our consultants and benefit from their experience. Finally, to make sure that you can apply what you learn at ACCE in your own center, ICMI’s Director of Educational Services Debbie Harne and consultant Linda Riggs will be leading a discussion on Wednesday afternoon to help you develop doable action items to take back to your organization. If you’re going to the show, please be sure to stop and say hello. I hope to see you there! Susan Hash ICMI Publications Director icmi’s insight www.icmi.com | SEPTEMBER 2007 5 http://www.icmi.com
