The IR3622MPbF and IR3622AMPbF can be configured to support a single output in current share mode, capable of delivering up to 80 amperes, or two independent outputs. The independent channels run 180° out of phase and reduce the required input capacitance requirement. Output ripple voltage is reduced in singleoutput mode. The IR3622MPbF targets 12-volt single-input apps; the IR3622AMPbF supports 5-V and 12-V applications. The devices feature a programmable switching frequency up to 600 kHz to reduce input and output filtering requirements. The line may be used in applications that require sophisticated power-up and power-down tracking and sequencing of multiple rails by offering a combination of track, sequencing, enable and “power good” output features that can be used to trigger a sequential rise of output voltages across multiple POL converters. Two reference designs are available: the IRDC3622S, for single output (dual phase), and the IRDC3622D, for dual output. Pricing: The IR3622MPbF, IR3622MTRPbF, IR3622AMPbF and IR3622AMTRPbF are priced at $1.90 each in quantities of 10,000. Availability: Production orders are available immediately. International Rectifier www.irf.com Buck control ICs support single, dual independent outputs International Rectifier has released two dual-channel synchronous buck control ICs with integrated high-performance drivers for medium- to high-current pointof-load buck converters used in network- Load switches provide current-limit protection to 2 A Fairchild Semiconductor’s FPF250X series IntelliMAX load switches offer inputs ranging from 4.5 to 20 volts. The devices provide full protection against overcurrent conditions affecting low-power designs, including notebook computer and consumer applications. The SOT-23-packaged parts integrate a 0.23-ohm current-limited n-channel MOSFET with protection and control features such as thermal shutdown, controlled turn-on and undervoltage lockout. The series is available in adjustable (0.5-amp to 2-A) or fixed current-limiting (0.4-A or 0.8-A) versions. The products meet or exceed the requirements of the joint IPC/Jedec standard J-STD020B and are compliant with European Union requirements. Pricing: The FPF2500 and FPF2506 are priced at 99 cents in quantities of 1,000. Availability: Delivery is eight weeks ARO. Fairchild Semiconductor www.fairchildsemi.com Overvoltage protection regulator replaces bulky circuitry Linear Technology Corp. offers an overvoltage protection regulator with overcurrent protection and inrush-current limiting for high-availability systems. The LT4356 targets applications where systems must deal with high-voltage surges of short duration, such as load dump in automobiles. The 4- to 80-V input operating range enables continuous operation during cold-crank conditions where the battery voltage can be as low as 4 V, said Linear. The LT4356 can handle transients of 100 V and higher. It provides reverse input protection to –30 V. The part replaces bulky protection circuitry with a simple IC and FET solution. It provides a well-regulated output during an overvoltage transient, allowing continued operation through the event.
