Embedded Systems Design - Europe - August/September 2007 - (Page 42) new products Remote monitoring and control kit TDC has introduced a flexible development kit designed for low-cost/power simultaneous remote monitoring and control of systems including machine-to-machine interfaces, automatic pay and sales machines, maintenance and security systems. The Industry Resource Internet Supervision, IRIS, development kit from TRL Funksysteme works on a 433MHz frequency reaching over 1000 meters with a free line of sight. This provides users with up to 70 different radio channels within a certified range and enables a range of functions to be performed within minutes including monitoring temperature and pressure sensors, taking automatic meter readings, traffic telematics and storage logistics. The development kit features two of each of the following: evaluation boards with RS232 and RS485 interfaces, radio data transmission modules, antennas, power supplies, serial data cables, and all the documentation and software required for configuration. IRIS can be used for cable replacement where the distance between the units exchanging data is too long or there are problems installing cable and bi-directional function makes sending and receiving possible with only one unit. The IRIS modules measure 42 x 51 x 11mm and can be integrated into almost any devices. An internet version of IRIS is currently under development. www.tdc.co.uk Duo cooperate to produce Autosar software stack NEC Electronics Europe and Vector Informatik have introduced a complete Autosar software stack for NEC Electronics’ V850ES/Fx3 and V850E/ PHO3 microcontrollers which are based on the 32-bit V850 CPU core. NEC Electronics’ microcontroller abstraction layer (MCAL) software contains all Autosar device driver and interface modules. The MCAL software was developed using software processes certified to CMMI Level 5 and SPICE Level 3. Vector incorporated NEC Electronics’ device driver modules into its Autosar solution, which consists of the remaining basic software modules, from operating system through memory management to communication. Vector’s MICROSAR configuration suite can be used for this integration and can integrate third-party components. Continuous cross checks and validation during the development process ensure integration without any loss in quality. www.eu.necel.com www.vector-informatik.de ThreadX ported to Microchip’s PIC24 and dsPIC Express Logic has released ThreadX Microcontroller Edition RTOS, (ThreadX/MCU), for the 16-bit PIC24 microcontrollers (MCUs) and dsPIC digital signal controllers (DSCs) from Microchip Technology. Until now, ThreadX has been available only for 32-bit processors and DSPs. But through a cooperative effort with Microchip, Express Logic has created this new version of ThreadX, to support the Microchip’s families. ThreadX/MCU is a fully upward-compatible, reduced-size, finetuned 16-bit edition of Express Logic’s 32-bit ThreadX RTOS ThreadX/MCU provides full preemptive scheduling, interrupt management, message passing, thread syn42 chronization, resource locking, event management and timer control; and supports up to 10 threads, queues, timers, mutexes, event flag groups, block pools and byte pools. It is fully upward-compatible with Express Logic’s full-featured ThreadX RTOS, employed in over 450 million electronic products based on 32-bit processors. Like ThreadX, ThreadX/MCU is royalty-free, making it suitable for high-volume applications in real-time motor control, speech/audio, and wireless networking. ThreadX/MCU can have a memory footprint, as small as 1.6kbytes and execute in 50 - 150 clock cycles. www.rtos.com EmbOS support for Renesas MCUs SEGGER Microcontroller Systeme is providing embOS support for the Renesas SH2 and H8S series of microcontrollers. Both ports come with a start project and embOS features such including communication mechanisms, tasks and communication instances can be dynamically created, deleted and configured. EmbOS provides a multitasking system on all 8/16/32-bit CPUs using a 100 percent identical API. Its small memory footprint makes it also suitable for single-chip applications. www. segger.com.
