Open to all independent developers, whether on PC, console, digital download, Web browser, or other more exotic formats, the IGF awards cash prizes totaling more than $50,000 to games in the categories listed below. Now in its tenth year, the IGF continues to evolve. The main competition continues with the $20,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize, as well as multiple awards for excellence in visual art, audio, and innovation, technical excellence, and best web game. The 2008 IGF Student Competition will once again award the best student games, and this year will also include student ‘mods’ to existing games, increasing the number of Student Showcase winners to 12. IGF Main competition finalists are also eligible for the IGF Audience Award, which is voted online by the public at www.igf.com/audience.php. Play all the 2008 IGF Finalist games and meet their creators at the IGF Pavilion, located on the GDC Expo show floor in the North Hall. The IGF Pavilion is open during GDC Expo hours, Wednesday, February 20, through Friday, February 22.
