Microwave Engineering Europe - September 2008 - (Page 38) 38 PRODUCTS Pre-qualified all-in-one Bluetooth module saves development time and cost Murata’s latest all-in-one Bluetooth module enables designers to easily integrate Bluetooth functionality into their applications without specific RF knowledge or expertise, saving development time, resource and cost. The LBMA46LCS integrates all the components necessary for Bluetooth operation including Bluetooth chipset, antenna filter, EEPROM and oscillator. Further, the all-in-one module is pre-qualified for Bluetooth, saving time and cost for Bluetooth qualification. This allows customers to reduce Bluetooth-related test and measurement at production sites. The module is ideal for mobile phone, headset, PDA, portable media player and portable device applications. The LBMA46LCS uses the company’s proprietary LTCC (low temperature cofired ceramic) technology and is one of the smallest Bluetooth modules on the market — measuring just 6.65 by 6.15 mm with a maximum height of 1.5 mm. It supports Bluetooth version 2.0 + EDR and features class 2 output power (0 dBm typical). Rx sensitivity is typically -82 dBm and the device supports several interfaces including USB, UART, BCSP and H4DS. It is RoHS compliant. www.mwee.com/210300455 High-power, solid-state, UHF power amplifier for airborne and fixed location operations A dual input, single output design provides 100-W per channel output across 290 to 320 MHz. The amplifier operates at full rated capability from a 22 to 32 VDC power supply. The US1498 features a thermally-efficient, finned, lightweight aluminum housing for customer-supplied forced air cooling, and incorporates four-bit digital attenuators on each channel that enable independent power control of each channel. Other features include a minimum power of 100 W per channel or 250 W for a single channel, enhanced redundancy capability, VSWR and high temperature alarm outputs, AN/ PRC 117(F) compatibility, and integrated output isolator for a tight impedance match and protection against poor VSWR. www.mwee.com/210300416 The US1498 high power, solid state, ultra-high frequency (UHF) power amplifier from CAP Wireless is designed especially for airborne and fixed location operations — delivering outstanding efficiency, linearity, and power amplification. Power efficiency is over 28 percent (two channels, 100 W/channel), while linearity is under -30 dBc. The amplifier employs laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductor (LDMOS) device technology to ensure reliability and robustness in high temperature and poor load VSWR environments.
