Microwave Engineering Europe - September 2008 - (Page 41) PRODUCTS 41 Active x2 frequency multiplier frequency coverage from 22 to 46 GHz Hittite Microwave has introduced a GaAs MMIC Active x2 frequency multiplier chip that allows radio designers to achieve continuous output frequency coverage from 22 to 46 GHz. This device also provides excellent fundamental and subharmonic suppression in clock generation, pointto-point radio, military and space, VSAT, and test equipment applications. The HMC598 utilizes GaAs PHEMT technology, and is offered in bare die form. The device is comprised of an input amplifier, a low conversion loss frequency doubler, and an output buffer amplifier. When driven with a +5 dBm input signal, this frequency multiplier provides +15 dBm typical output power from 22 to 46 GHz, and the Fo and 3Fo isolations are 25 dBc and 15 dBc respectively at 30 GHz. The high output power capability of the HMC598 also allows designers to conveniently drive many of Hittite’s doublebalanced and I/Q MMIC mixer products directly. The HMC598 Active x2 frequency multiplier may be used to build clock generation circuits implementing OC-768 and STM-256 optical standards. Also ideal for use in LO multiplier chains for pointto-point and millimeterwave radios, the device requires no external components and only standard bias decoupling capacitors, yielding a reduced parts count compared with traditional design approaches. The die operates over the -55 to +85 °C temperature range. www.mwee.com/210102200 RF testing out of control? Only Keithley gives you the RF test tools you need to rein in today’s devices and tame tomorrow’s challenges. High-linearity SP3T switch targets WLAN and Bluetooth applications Tyco Electronics M/A-COM has announced the MASW008955, a DC-3.5 GHz SP3T RoHS compliant switch for applications that require high linearity, low insertion loss, and fast settling time over a wide frequency range in an ultra small package size. Typical applications for this product include filter and antenna switching in WLAN or WLAN systems that connect separate receive functions to a common antenna. The switching time required from the software/ baseband to the output power at the antenna can vary widely from application to application. This part can be used in all systems operating ■ MODEL 2920 RF SIGNAL GENERATOR MODEL 2820 RF SIGNAL ANALYZER Test the most complex signal structures, including 802.11n WLAN MIMO and 802.16e Wave 2 WiMAX. Configure a 4x4 MIMO test system costeffectively. Generate and analyze signals up to 6 GHz repeatybly and accurately with our instruments’ software-defined radio architecture. Reduce your time to market and cost of test with MIMO systems optimized for R&D and production test. ■ ■ up to 3.5 GHz requiring low control voltage. The MASW-008955 is fabricated on a low-cost 0.5-micron gate-length GaAs process with full passivation added for robust reliability, which is achieved in a miniature 2-mm 8-lead PDFN package. Each switch is 100 percent RF tested to ensure performance compliance. www.mwee.com/210102191 ■ Go to www.keithley.com/tame and try a demo. www.keithley.com/contact info@keithley.de Microwave Engineering ● September 2008 ● www.mwee.com 041_MWEE.indd 41 4/09/08 15:17:19 http://www.mwee.com/210102200 http://www.keithley.com/tame http://www.keithley.com/contact http://www.mwee.com/210102191 http://www.mwee.com
