Microwave Engineering Europe - October 2007 - (Page 57) PRODUCTS 57 UHF ASK/FSK receiver ICs target TPMS and RKE applications Atmel has announced the ATA5723, ATA5724, and ATA5728 UHF ASK/FSK receiver ICs for applications such as remote keyless entry (RKE) and tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). Manufactured using Atmel’s RF BiCMOS process, the devices come in a small footprint SSO20 package and offer the best compromise between high integration, outstanding performance, and worldwide frequency coverage. Pin compatible, the ICs do not require board design changes for all standard automotive frequency ranges: 313 to 317 MHz (ATA5723), 432 to 436 MHz (ATA5724), and 868 to 870 MHz (ATA5728). All three devices support the typically used Manchester and Bi-phase coding signals. In addition, they provide a logarithmic RSSI output, which enables customers to achieve good resolution at low field strengths. Leading receiving selectivity is accomplished by an integrated image rejection mixer with 30 dB rejection, -113 dBm sensitivity, and improved selectivity due to the integrated IF filter, low-phase-noise VCO, PLL, and loop filter. Requiring few external devices and no external filters, the receiver ICs suit costefficiency requirements. Ten passive components, a low-cost crystal, and an RF antenna are all that is typically needed to create a receiver board. The ICs implement the company’s renowned polling mode functionality, which allows the microcontroller to remain in standby mode, enabling very low current consumption. Active current consumption is specified at about 8 mA in receiving mode. The single-ended RF input allows easy adaptation of lambda/4 or printed loop antennas and leads to relaxed tolerance requirements for RF matching components. www.atmel.com Time is finally on your side. Tektronix Real-Time Spectrum Analyzers. See frequency and amplitude change over time—witness the perfect solution for transient RF design challenges. Once you see your signal over time, the world of RF troubleshooting becomes incredibly simple. And thanks to frequency domain triggering, real-time seamless capture, and multi-domain views, faults that were practically impossible to replicate can be analyzed with a single capture. It's unlike anything you’ve ever seen. You owe it to yourself to see it. www.tektronix.com/rtsa 150 W driver transistor ideal for 150 W Mode-S avionics transmitters and MDS1100) provide avionics designers with a total transmitter solution. The MDS150 provides 150 W of output power at 1030/1090 MHz with Mode-S pulsing (0.5 µs on/off x128 burst). This Class C biased, bipolar transistor runs on V(cc) of 50 V making it easy to use with existing power supplies running on 50 to 52 V. The die utilizes gold metallization and integral emitter ballast resistors for maximum reliability. www.microsemi.com A 150-W power driver transistor, the MDS150 from Microsemi Corporation is designed to complement the company’s MDS Series of high power transistors for Mode-S avionics applications.
