It suits a wide range of power monitor and control applications in portable and battery-powered wireless systems, cellular basestations, picocells and femtocells, fiber optic transmitters and instrumentation. The LT5581 outputs a DC voltage that is linearly proportional to the log input power, providing an easyto-use, mV/dB scaling with exceptional linearity of better than ±1 dB across 40 dB range. Its RMS measurement capability provides accurate RF power readings to within ±0.2 dB regardless of waveforms that have high crest-factor modulated content, multi-carrier or multitone. Moreover, the IC offers accuracy of ±1dB over of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Operating over a wide supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.25 V, the LT5581’s low power consumption makes it ideal for batterypowered communication and multimedia devices. Yet, it has the accuracy to meet the performance required by basestations, picocells and femtocells, cable infrastructure and optical communication systems. Additionally, the IC’s wide frequency range extends to applications including WiMAX and wireless systems in the 5 GHz ISM bands. The single-ended RF input does not require an external RF transformer, thus simplifying the application design while reducing costs. Further, a fast response time of 1 µs rise time to a full power swing makes the device suitable for timedivision duplexing systems. The chip also incorporates a shutdown feature. When its Enable input pin is pulled low, the chip draws a typical shutdown current of 0.2 µA, and a maximum of 6 µA. www.mwee.com/210605262 Receivers and downconverters feature DSP based applications flexibility Elcom Technologies has released the SIGINT FlxGen™ family of HFVHF/UHF-MW receivers and downconverters. These products feature a new generation of flexible, high performance SIGINT sensors that combine proprietary RF topologies with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) DSP hardware. The FlxGen series includes six receivers and downconverters ranging from 10 KHz to 40 GHz and offers the flexibility to control IF bandwidths, IF frequencies, application specific functions and communications protocols/formats. In addition, the end user can use the proprietary DSP architecture to embed mission sensitive signal analysis and detection schemes. The modular architecture also allows for adaptation to multiple form factors depending on the end user environment. www.mwee.com/210605244 Microwave Engineering Europe ● October 2008 ● www.mwee.com 046_MWEE.indd Sec1:46 3/10/08 13:05:34 http://www.mwee.com/210605262 http://www.telogyllc.com http://www.mwee.com/210605244 http://www.mwee.com
