Microwave Engineering Europe - October 2008 - (Page 51) PRODUCTS 51 Downconverting SiGe mixer for WCS, LTE, WiMAX, and MMDS base stations A fully integrated, 2000 MHz to 3000 MHz, downconverting mixer with an on-chip LO buffer, the MAX19996 has been designed using a proprietary, monolithic SiGe process from Maxim Integrated Technologies to deliver an industryleading combination of linearity, noise performance, and component integration. This single IC provides a fully integrated downconversion channel with +24.5 dBm (typical) IIP3, 8.7 dB (typical) conversion gain, and 9.6 dB (typical) noise figure. Further, the mixer claims an industry-best 2RF-2LO spurious rejection of 69 dBc for an RF level of -10 dBm, and 64 dBc for a level of 5 dBm. The mixer specifically targets 3G/4G wirelessinfrastructure applications in which high linearity and a low noise figure are critical for enhanced receiver sensitivity and blocker immunity. These include 2.3 GHz to 2.8 GHz WCS, LTE, WiMAX, and MMDS base stations. As a complete SiGe downconverter, the MAX19996 integrates a stateof-the-art mixer core, two amplifiers, two baluns, and dozens of discrete components. The device’s 8.7 dB conversion gain enables the elimination of a complete IF amplifier stage within the receiver lineup. The mixer’s outstanding 2RF-2LO performance can also ease the filtering requirements of closein harmonics, thus leading to simpler and more cost-effective filter designs. Through this combination of integration and performance, the device reduces downconverter solution size by a factor of 2x and the discrete part count by 34 percent. www.mwee.com/210605491 Visit us at: electronica, Booth A1.620 EuMW, Booth 2.1111+1210 RF testing out of control? MODEL 2920 RF SIGNAL GENERATOR MODEL 2820 RF SIGNAL ANALYZER ■ Self-contained 56 Gb/s pattern generator one-sixth the size of competitive products The TG2P5A 39.6 to 56 Gb/s PRBS source from Centellax is a fully self-contained 56 Gb/s pattern generator designed to provide an excellent quality eye at a fraction of the cost of current solutions. This is made possible through comprehensive integration of the key building blocks into monolithic ICs based on SiGe technology. The performance generated from the 39.6 to 56 Gb/s PRBS source is world class, with the typical eye having 400 fs rms jitter, 400 mV of output swing and <9 ps rise time. This entire package is one-sixth the size of any other solution on the market, which allows users to position the source directly at the device-under-test regardless of the lab bench environment. The 56G PRBS generator is designed to be used as the source for testing 100G Ethernet applications designed at one-half data rate, or 56 Gbps. In conjunction with a high-speed digital comms analyzer it can be used to make eye and jitter measurements of 56 Gbps components such as modulator drivers, optical modulators, and MUX and DEMUX components. www.mwee.com/210605225 Test the most complex signal structures, including 802.11n WLAN MIMO and 802.16e Wave 2 WiMAX. Configure a 4x4 MIMO test system costeffectively. Generate and analyze signals up to 6 GHz repeatybly and accurately with our instruments’ software-defined radio architecture. Reduce your time to market and cost of test with MIMO systems optimized for R&D and production test. ■ ■ ■ Go to www.keithley.com/tame and try a demo. www.keithley.com/contact info@keithley.de Microwave Engineering ● October 2008 ● www.mwee.com 051_MWEE.indd Sec1:51 3/10/08 14:10:06 http://www.mwee.com/210605491 http://www.keithley.com/tame http://www.keithley.com/contact http://www.mwee.com/210605225 http://www.mwee.com
