Microwave Engineering Europe - October 2008 - (Page 53) PRODUCTS 53 16-bit ADC delivers 200 MSPS for faster speed and resolution in wireless systems Texas Instruments has introduced a 16-bit, single-channel, 200 MSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC), designated ADS5485, to provide faster speeds previously only available with lower resolution ADCs. Evaluation modules (EVMs) are available to simplify design and enable rapid evaluations of these complex systems. SNR is 75 dBFS and spurious-free dynamic range is 87 dBc for a 70-MHz input frequency (IF). The ADC eases analog front end design by incorporating a fully differential input buffer. Developed in the company’s BiCom3 high-speed process technology, this buffer provides constant input impedance over input frequency and eliminates kickback from the ADC’s trackand-hold structure to ensure consistent linearity of the signal. Specifically such performance enables SFDRs to implement a greater number of standards such as WiMAX, LTE and CDMA. www.mwee.com/210603129 Microcontroller for wireless M2M comms Renesas Technology Europe has launched the AE470G secure MCU for M2M (Machine-toMachine) wireless communication applications. The MCU is built around the high-performance AE-4 CPU core, which was developed specifically for use in secure MCUs, and integrates 144 Kbytes of high-performance electrically erasable and programmable readonly memory (EEPROM) with a guaranteed operating temperature range of -40 to +105 degress Celsius, 500,000 rewrite cycles, and a data storage period after programming of 10 years. The secure MCU offers a 16-bit computing element and bus width and operates at a maximum internal frequency of 10 MHz (at 3 V). This ensures software compatibility with earlier AE-4 Series MCUs, which also incorporate the AE-4 CPU core. It is suitable for use in a wide range of machines requiring M2M wireless communication capabilities. EEPROM write/erase times are very fast: 2.4 ms for page-unit rewrites, 1.3 ms for page-unit erases, and 1.1 ms for pageunit overwrites. The E6000 full emulator is available as a development tool. www.mwee.com/210602925 RESISTIVE PRODUCTS Microwave Engineering ● October 2008 ● www.mwee.com 053_MWEE.indd Sec1:53 3/10/08 14:11:47 http://www.mwee.com/210603129 http://www.resistor.com http://www.mwee.com/210602925 http://www.mwee.com
