Microwave Engineering Europe - November 2007 - (Page 36) 36 PRODUCTS Wideband log detector delivers high dynamic range up to 10 GHz Hittite Microwave Corporation has introduced its fourth logarithmic detector/controller product, which is ideal for RF power measurement and control in cellular/PCS/3G, WiMAX, WiBro, fixed wireless, radio link and radar applications over the full 1 MHz to 10 GHz frequency range. Designated HMC611LP4(E), the logarithmic detector/ controller is fabricated in a SiGe BiCMOS process, and converts RF signals at its differential input to a proportional output DC voltage. It is pin-compatible with the previously released HMC602LP4 (E) and delivers a high 1 dB dynamic range of greater than 60 dB from 50 MHz to 5.8 GHz, 54 dB dynamic range at 8 GHz with outstanding stability of 1 dB total error from -40°C to +85°C. In logarithmic detection mode the HMC611LP4(E) provides a nominal logarithmic slope of -25 mV/dB and a nominal intercept of 12 dBm up to 5.8 GHz. The RF input is externally matched to 50 Ohms and the device operates Multi-octave band-reject YIG filters wide choice of drivers in military or commercial grades Just announced by specialist distributor, Admiral Microwaves, is the MLFR Series of multi-octave, bandreject YIG filters, manufactured by Micro Lambda Wireless. These filters deliver superior performance and can be ordered with a wide choice of drivers, in either commercial or military grades. Drivers available include commercial analogue, TTL digital or serial types, and military grade digital and serial versions. The Micro Lambda MLFR filter and driver combinations are particularly suited to the growing requirement for wideband coverage. With outstanding notch depth and precise bandwidths for rejection of unwanted signals, the YIG filters are targeted at high frequency designs in commercial broadband as well as military electronic warfare system applications. With high linearity, these YIG band reject filters with a supply voltage of +5V, consuming 106 mA. Ideal for applications such as RF transmitter power amplifier control, RSSI measurement in cellular basestations, radio link and radar, the logartithmic detector also exhibits 8 ns rise and fall times, which is ideal for RF burst detection up to a 60 MHz pulse rate. The HMC611LP4(E) may be operated in controller mode, which allows for an external voltage to be applied to the VSET pin, to create an automatic gain control feedback loop which is ideal for RF power monitoring and control circuits. It is housed in a 4x4 mm plastic QFN package and specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. www.hittite.com cover the frequency range of 500 MHz to 18 GHz, 2 to 18 GHz and 2 to 26 GHz. Contained in a 1.4 inch (35.6mm) cube, the devices offer 3 dB reject bandwidths of 150 MHz and 40 dB bandwidths of 5 to 25 MHz as standard. Modified 3 dB and 40 dB bandwidths are available to special order. The MLFR series devices feature up to 16 stages, maximum passband VSWR of 2.1, and maximum passband insertion loss of 2.5 dB. Performance specifications are guaranteed over the 0 to 65 °C temperature range, and extended temperature range devices are available. www.admiral-microwaves.co.uk Tiny USB transceiver conserves space in handsets, ultra-low-power Cypress Semiconductor has introduced a high-speed USB 2.0 transceiver, designated the MoBL-USB TX3LP18, which comes in a 20-pin WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) package that measures only 2.2 mm x 1.8 mm — almost three times smaller than a standard golf ball dimple. In addition to having a footprint 20 percent smaller than any competitive solutions, the device offers ultra-low power consumption. The transceiver is compliant with the UTMI (USB 2.0 Transceiver Macrocell Interface) + Low-Pin Interface (ULPI) standard. It delivers low power consumption with a 0.5 µA nominal sleep mode. In addition to its small size, Coaxial noise source ideal for built-in test and noise figure measurements NoiseWave has released the NW2G-CS coaxial noise source. Available in 6, 15 and 30 dB ENRs (Excess Noise Ratios), the NW2G-CS is ideal for noise figure measurements and built in test applications. The device features a small profile housing of 0.75 by 0.5 by 1.25 inches excluding connectors, ideal when space is at a premium. The noise source features flatness better than ±1.0 dB over the frequency range 10 kHz to 2 GHz and comes with calibrated cardinal ENR frequencies. A variety of connectors are available. Standard operation is from +28 Vdc with a 20 mA maximum current draw. Alternative voltages, output levels and frequencies are also available. Typical applications include built in test equipment, noise figure testing, jamming and as an economical source for broadband power. www.noisewave.com the device integrates multiple passive components in order to further reduce boardspace usage and enable smaller end systems. It removes the need for a dedicated 3.3 V power supply with a wide input supply voltage range from 3.0 to 5.8 V, and features an integrated Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) to supply USB clocking requirements without a dedicated crystal. www.cypress.com Microwave Engineering Europe ● November 2007 ● www.mwee.com 036_MWEE.indd 36 26/10/07 12:35:51 http://www.admiral-microwaves.co.uk http://www.hittite.com http://www.cypress.com http://www.noisewave.com http://www.mwee.com
