Microwave Engineering Europe - November 2007 - (Page 38) 38 PRODUCTS Signal generator delivers 100 µs switching VCO-based architecture keeps cost down The MG37020A fast-switching microwave signal generator, from Anritsu utilizes an advanced VCO-based hardware architecture to achieve bestin-class frequency switching speed of 100 µs per point. Fast switching speed, and a number of other high-performance specifications and design advantages make the instrument well suited for integration into automated test systems used in defense signal simulation and manufacturing ATE where minimum test time and maximum throughput is critical. The VCO-based architecture integrates advanced RF hardware, enhanced computing, and digital interfaces that minimize command and trigger delays, to give the instrument a switching speed an order of magnitude faster than comparable YIG-based signal generators while maintaining low phase noise of -101 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset at 10 GHz. Overall performance makes it ideal for data intensive applications, such as antenna test, satellite payload test, and terrestrial microwave link testing. Increased throughput and lower cost of test also make it suitable for high volume component manufacturing, such as RFIC and MMIC testing. The MG37020A covers a frequency range of 10 MHz MMIC amplifiers feature wide bandwidth target test and measurement applications Avago Technologies has announced three MMICs designed to address the complex needs of test and measurement equipment applications for wireless networks. The AMMC6380, -6470 and -6350 microcircuits are ideal for test and measurement applications where highly accurate instrumentation and signal processing support for highend frequencies are required. Using a cascade design for high efficiency, the AMMC6380 is a DC- to 80-GHz traveling wave amplifier ideal for high gain and broad bandwidth applications. The AMMC-6470 is a 40- to 79 GHz power amplifier that runs with a low DC quiescent current of 300 mA. The AMMC-6350 is a DC- to 50-GHz differential output power amplifier ideal for instrumentation applications. It has a gain of 5 dB and a low quiescent current of 200 mA. All MMICs operate off a single +5 V and ship with on-chip matching for high performance. www.avago.com to 20 GHz in 0.001 Hz steps. It features +23 dBm high output power at 20 GHz, and high performance pulse modulation to conduct highly accurate signal simulation of pulsed signals. Based on a Windows XP Professional platform, the instrument has a color touch screen display and has been optimized for ease of use. Anritsu has developed options that address specific testing requirements. The MG37020A Pulse Modulation option includes pulse burst capability designed to address Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) test applications. With the option, there is no need for external pulse generators, saving space and cost. A new Ultra-Stable Phase Track option is also available. When the option is installed, up to four MG37020A synthesizers can be interconnected, for those applications requiring multiple test signals that accurately phase track each other. www.anritsu.com 37- to 42-GHz SMT packaged linear PA features output power adjust Mimix Broadband has introduced a surface mount packaged four stage GaAs MMIC linear power amplifier with +35 dBm OIP3 and 23 dB small signal gain. Designated XP1031-QK, it covers 37 to 42 GHz and comes in a high performance, RoHS compliant, 7- x 7-mm SMT package, offering excellent RF and thermal properties. The device is ideal for wireless applications such as point-to-point radio, LMDS, SATCOM and VSAT and can be used in conjunction with the company’s XR1008-QB receiver and XU1006-QB transmitter to form a complete SMT 38-GHz transceiver. This highly linear 38-GHz packaged power amplifier completes the transmit portion of a typical linear radio and, together with the company’s integrated XR1008-QB receiver and XU1006-QB transmitter, forms a full SMT 38-GHz integrated chipset. High performance and ease of integration offer customers greater design control in a spectrum traditionally dominated by die-level or single function packaged parts. www.mimixbroadband.com Delay lines for RF and microwave applications cover 30 kHz to 2 GHz, custom versions also available Link Microtek has added a selection of wound delay lines to its range of products that cover applications over a broad frequency range of 30 kHz to 2 GHz. The delay lines are manufactured from semirigid cable and have a tinned copper outer, a copper-silver plated steel inner and a PTFE dielectric. They are available in connectorised form or with ends prepared for PCB mounting. Featuring a 50 Ohm impedance, the delay lines offer typical specifications of 11.64 ±0.02 ns for a length of 2427 mm and 1.5 ±0.01 ns for a length of 305 mm. The delay lines are suitable for a wide variety of applications in areas such as test and measurement, mobile-phone base stations and radar systems. All delay lines can be customised to suit individual requirements for specific lengths and connector types, and they can also be supplied with aluminium bobbins if required. www.linkmicrotek.com Microwave Engineering Europe ● November 2007 ● www.mwee.com 038_MWEE.indd 38 26/10/07 12:37:21 http://www.avago.com http://www.anritsu.com http://www.mimixbroadband.com http://www.linkmicrotek.com http://www.mwee.com
