Family Philanthropy Conference 2009 Brochure - (Page 6) generational leaderShip The generational Leadership programs will provide a rare opportunity for foundation staff, board, and family members from the emerging/next generation (those born after 1969) to collaboratively learn, network, and gain insight into the philanthropic world. It will offer you context, knowledge, and tools to address generational issues in foundations, with grantees, and in the wider philanthropic sectors. Special opportunities of interest for emerging leaders include: Saturday, January 31 9:00pm–11:00pm next generation Hosted suite This semi-formal space will provide emerging leaders with a venue for late-night de-briefing, amazing refreshments, blogging, music, and good conversation. Co-hosted by 21/64, Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, and Resource Generation Sunday, February 1 new day! generational Leadership: next-generation retreat The next-Generation Retreat will take place after the opening Plenary 1:00pm–6:00pm If you are a novice family philanthropist or a budding one (age 18 to 35), don’t miss an opportunity to meet your peers. Start building relationships with others who are exploring complex questions of responsibility, opportunity, and family legacy. Through interactive exercises, participants will begin to clarify their values and philanthropic identity and explore their visions and strategies for funding. Consider attending this retreat with other family members—siblings, cousins, partners—for candid conversations. This retreat is facilitated by Sharna Goldseker, director of 21/64, a division of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, and Stephanie Yang of Resource Generation.
