Texas JCDA present 1903 Perpetual
Enrollment, Make a Child's Wish Come True, Feed the
Hungry, Honor Veterans and Connect the Essential Puzzle
Pieces of the JCDA Sisterhood at State Biennial Convention.
he Texas Junior Catholic Daughters held their
27th Biennial State Convention June 23-25,
2017 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in McAllen,
Texas. The Convention theme was "I Am the Bread
of Life." During the three day convention, JCDA
members from throughout the state came together
to experience fellowship, share the good works
being done, elect new officers and interact with
national and state CDA members.
Court members came in on Friday and were
treated to fun in the park with games, dancing and
a performance by Matachines Dancers to honor Our
Lady of Guadalupe.
Saturday included feeding the poor by filling bags of
food to donate to St. Vincent De Paul's food program.

A CDA pep rally led by State CDA Officers provided plenty
of pep and CDA spirit for all in attendance.
The convention was convened Saturday morning and
business conducted. The courts and state officers presented
reports of their activities over the two-year term including
PowerPoint presentations showing the activities. Members
took time to create cards for veterans to be delivered to
veterans in hospitals. Members also took time to honor our
fallen heroes by visiting the Veteran's Memorial. New state
officers were elected and adult recognition and outstanding
junior awards given.
National Youth Chairman Arline Rich presented a
Certificate of Recognition. Mrs. Rich shared that she,
herself, was a JCDA member and this was her first State

John Peters for his 34 years as JCDA State Chaplain
A check was presented to the Make A Wish Foundation
to make a child's Wish come true. Funds came from
Donations by JCDA and CDA courts through the State
SHARE * FALL 2017
Christmas in June project.
Another highlight of the convention was puzzle pieces
containing pictures of JCDA courts, state officers, chairmen,
chaplain, CDA officers and national representatives handed
out to be fit together to complete a puzzle to symbolize
how we all fit together as essential pieces of JCDA. Later
the puzzle was turned over to reveal a silhouette of the
Lord's Supper as a reflection of the convention theme and
symbolizing that we are all part of God's plan and that we
fit together in performing His spiritual works.
Mass was followed by the installation of the new State JCDA
officers. In the photo, front left to right, 2017-2019 officers
