It’s summer, and now that the longest primary season in history is over, maybe the planet can start spinning again? The Olympics; if you’re going consider a stopover in Hong Kong. Staying home? Define home, or perhaps re-define home. Remember when summer was languid? The crops were planted, stock was grazing, and the heat made lazy bones of us all. Me neither, that was the last century. Summer is happening, and the summer doldrums no longer apply. So many choices; can you see yourself sunning on the roof deck of a luxury house boat moored in the deep emerald waters of Lake Tahoe? Harvey’s `19´ is a superb restaurant. Your Lifestyle Concierge can so help with that. Summer rentals are huge, but have a care. Location is crucial. Without good restaurants, activities, and entertainments—or a passion for crochet, reruns, and cards, you’ll be yearning for home by the end of the first week. Check the ties on the hammock; enjoy an evening stroll to the park for a concert at the open air theatre. Don’t forget to stop and admire Annie Barrett’s Lace Cap hydrangeas on the way. Just a thought: you know with so many folks staying home (that’s the buzz anyway with air travel getting pricey), this might be the perfect summer to take up residence on a beach somewhere and just bake. The sun glinting off the Aegean, a beach tavern no more than a stone’s throw away, add to the mix a villa—the Greek island of Halkidiki has some interesting possibilities, and we’re back to lazy bones and ye olde summer daze.
