Wireless Headset Batteries: GN Netcom, Inc. of Nashua, NH is recalling about 525,000 of its wireless headset batteries manufactured in China and sold in the United States. The company says that an internal short circuit in the lithium-ion polymer battery in the headset can cause the battery to overheat, posing a fire hazard. GN Netcom has received 10 reports in the United States of incidents involving overheating, including three reports of property damage. The recalled headset batteries were sold individually and as part of a headset through GN Netcom and authorized distributors and resellers nationwide, from January 2005 through September 2008. Rechargeable Batteries: Finally, Coby Electronics Corporation of Lake Success, NY has announced the recall of about 13,000 rechargeable batteries manufactured in China and sold with its DVD/CD/MP3 players. Coby reports that the recalled rechargeable batteries can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers. The company has received four reports of batteries overheating, including three reports of minor property damage from a fire, but no reports of injuries. The recalled batteries were sold with Coby DVD/CD/MP3 players in discount, electronics, music, toy, office supply stores and distributors of electronics products nationwide from May 2007 through July 2008.
