Conformity Magazine - March 2009 - (Page 44) NewsBreaks Toasters: Viking Range Corporation of Greenwood, MS has issued a recall for about 10,000 of its four-slice electric toasters manufactured in China. The company reports that the wiring inside the toaster can become loose and contact the toaster body, posing a shock hazard to consumers. Viking Range has received five reports from consumers who experienced minor shock when touching the outside of the toaster. The recalled toasters were sold through culinary product retailers, online dealers and Viking’s web site from April 2005 through November 2008 for about $300. Snowmobiles: Finally, Arctic Cat Inc. of Thief River Falls, MN is recalling about 10,000 of its model year 2009 Arctic Cat Mountain Cat and Crossfire snowmobiles. Arctic Cat says that the mounting hardware securing the fuel pump can allow fuel to leak, posting a fire hazard to consumers. The company has received four reports of fuel leakage, but no reports of personal injury or property damage. The recalled snowmobiles were sold through authorized Arctic Cat dealers nationwide from June through November 2008 for between $7500 and $13,100.
