Conformity Magazine- May 2008 - (Page 32) The Headquarter News Informer Provided by the International Association for Radio, Telecommunications and Electromagnetics programs require evidence of education, ethical practice, team spirit, peer support, managerial or customer respect and the ability to pass, and actually prepare questions for, a demanding examination. The iNARTE Certification delivers the message that you are a motivated top professional. Statistically less than 20% of practitioners in any of the disciplines we serve actually achieve iNARTE certification. This is the way to differentiate yourself and it should be part of your CPD strategy. iNARTE is now well established in New Bern, North Carolina. We have just received our Certificate of Authority from the offices of the North Carolina Secretary of State. Janet, our Operations Administrator that joined us in January, has had to leave iNARTE after just a few weeks with us. We have been very fortunate to find an excellent replacement for that position in Judy Sydow, who has had many years of experience in Customer Service Management. We welcome Judy to our team. Our new contact information is: iNARTE, Inc., 840 Queen Street, New Bern, NC 28560 Phone: 1-800-89-NARTE; (252) 672-0200; (252) 672-0207 Fax: (252) 672-0111 Email: Lawrence@inarte.us; Kathy@inarte.us; Judy@inarte.us; info@inarte.us International Focus We have now concluded Partnership Agreements with three affiliated companies serving the ESD communities in India, Malaysia and Singapore: • • • ESD Management and Consultancy Pvt. LTD., Bangalore, India. ESD Consultancy Sdn. Bhd., Selangor , Malaysia. ESD Consultancy and Management Pte. Ltd., Singapore. Difficult Times Ahead Almost everyone is now using the “R” word. So we are “almost” definitely in a recession. However, how deep will it be, and for how long will it last. About 500,000 jobs were lost in the U.S. last year and 2008 has started at about the same rate. Much of the job loss has been a direct result of the Global Economy and NAFTA, with jobs moving overseas to lower cost manufacturing areas, but we are now seeing job cuts simply due to recessionary influences. As individuals we can take steps to prepare for our futures. Each of us needs to look closely at what we do and what we have responsibility for. Each of us is part of a number of “Process Models,” not only as individuals, but also as members of departments, divisions and corporations. We receive input from “Suppliers,” we perform a “Process” and then deliver to “Customers”. It is critical that we fully engage with these processes, that we understand our role and seek to add value for our customers. There are difficult times ahead and the best strategy for survival is to step up to the challenges, understand what roles you can play both now and in the future, and develop the skills needed to add value and bind your process groups together so that suppliers, task members and customers fully understand each others needs. Contact Mr. Bessho, bessho@kec.jp Honing Your Credentials • • Upcoming Events of Interest to iNARTE Members As engineers and technicians it is understood that you have technical skills stemming from an appropriate education in the physical sciences and your work experience. The question to ask now is; are these skills sufficient, and are they being nurtured and developed for the challenges of the future. Continuing professional development, CPD, in your chosen fields is critical and you and your employer need to understand that CPD is part of your job description not a distraction from it. The next critical step is to validate your credentials. Certification, and more specifically independent certification, may be the best way. Here at iNARTE we validate the credentials of Engineers and Technicians in several disciplines; Telecommunications, EMC, ESD and Product Safety Engineering.
