Seems that the unwitting photographers had passed by an unsecured computer network whose factory installed settings matched those of DeLauzon’s home computer network. Once connected, the camera’s memory card uploaded the photos, providing DeLauzon with the photographic evidence necessary to track down the thieves and recover her camera. DeLauzon declined to press charges. Unbeknownst to them, however, DeLauzon’s camera was equipped with an SD memory card that automatically uploads photos to a home computer or on-line photosharing service as soon as it is linked to a familiar wireless network.
