According to the scorecard, the top five companies are Nike (score of 82), Stonyfield Farm (78), IBM (77), Unilever (75), and Canon (74). Rounding out the top 10 are General Electric (71), Toshiba (70), Procter & Gamble (69), Hewlett-Packard (68), and Sony (also 68). The bottom-ranked companies (each with a score of 0) include fast-food giants Burger King and Wendy’s, Darden Restaurants, and Jones Apparel Group. Our readers can view the complete list as compiled by Climate Counts at www.conformity.com/2014. Commission Issues Updated Standards List For Directive on Gas-Fired Appliances The EU Commission has also released an updated list of standards that can be used to demonstrate conformity with the essential requirements of its Directive 90/396/EEC relating to appliances burning gaseous fuels. The list of standards was published in the May 24th issue of the Official Journal, and replaces all previously published standards lists for the directive. Our readers can view the complete list of standards at www.conformity.com/2016. more than $2 billion worth of fish and shellfish imported here in 2007. Data in the HHS fact sheet was provided by the U.S. Census Bureau. Our readers can view the complete text of the HHS’s fact sheet on U.S. imports from China at www.conformity.com/2017. Customs Agents Seize Holiday Lights The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that federal prosecutors there have filed a complaint seeking the forfeiture of almost 9000 Christmas tree light switches allegedly bearing counterfeit Underwriters Laboratories’ safety marks. According to the report, the switches were seized three years ago by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents after being shipped from Taiwan. The counterfeit trademarks were apparently easy to spot, as they were printed with white text on a black background, rather than the trademarked black text on a white background. The importer, RC Company, a division of Plastech Corporation, reportedly held UL certificates for switches manufactured in Rush City, MN, or at a separate plant in Taipei, Taiwan. But a UL representative discovered that the Taipei address was only an office, and that the switches were being manufactured elsewhere in China by an unauthorized manufacturer. HHS Releases Fact Sheet on U .S . Imports from China The United States imported over $320 billion in goods from China in 2007, more than 15% of the nearly $2 trillion worth of goods imported into the U.S, according to a fact sheet issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Imports from China and exports to that country in 2007 had a total combined value of nearly $387 billion, making China the U.S.’s second largest trading partner in the world, according to HHS. Computers topped the list of imported products categories from China, with over $28 billion shipped here. Computer accessories and peripherals represented the second largest category of imported products, with a total value of $28 billion. Toys, sporting goods and bicycles were the third biggest category of imported products, with just over $27.5 billion coming from China. Interestingly, China is also the largest exporter of seafood to the U.S., with Updated Standards List For the EU’s Pressure Equipment Directive The Commission of the European Union (EU) has released an updated list of standards that can be used to demonstrate conformity with the essential requirements of its Directive 97/23/EC concerning pressure equipment. The extensive list of standards was published in the May 6th issue of the Official Journal of the European Union, and replaces all previously published standards lists for the directive.
