NewsBreaks ranges were sold by home builders and appliance stores nationwide from October 2005 through February 2007 for between $4000 and $6000. Ceramic Cooktops: BSH Home Appliances Corporation of Huntington Beach, CA has announced the recall of about 2000 of its Thermador-brand ceramic cooktops. According to the company, the cooktop can come on by itself when switched off, creating a potential fire hazard if flammable items are left on the cooktop. BSH has received no reports of injuries or incidents associated with the recalled cooktops, but is taking action to prevent future incidents. The cooktops were sold through appliance and specialty stores nationwide from October 2006 through March 2007 for between $1800 and $2200. Built-In Ovens: BSH Home Appliances has also recalled about 42,000 of its Thermador-brand built-in ovens. The company says that the ovens can have gaps in the insulation where overheating of nearby cabinets can occur, posing a fire hazard to consumers. HBS has received ten reports of incidents, including one which resulted in a fire that caused extensive property damage, but no reports of injuries. The recalled ovens were sold through appliance and specialty stores nationwide from November 2004 through May 2007 for between $2400 and $3900. Dishwashers: Finally, Asko Cylinda AB of Vara, Sweden has recalled about 130,000 dishwashers. According to Asko Cylinda, an electrical component in the dishwasher can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers. The company has received 21 reports of dishwasher fires, along with reports of property damage, but no injuries have been reported. The recalled dishwashers were sold through major kitchen appliance distributors and dealers nationwide from January 1995 through April 2000 for between $750 and $1300.
