In Asia and other regions seeing a large influx of manufacturing, the reverse situation applies, with the demand for skilled engineers and technicians outstripping supply. Many companies arrange secondment periods to train regional recruits, but critical time can be wasted finding the right engineers and technicians to train. University courses are being modified to graduate job seekers with the right credentials, but those graduates need work experience in order to add value to their employers. Here too, iNARTE certification can help employers identify those engineers and technicians with the right mix of skills and experience. To take advantage of testing during one of the following listed events identified with **, simply select “Special Event Location.” In June, iNARTE promoted its certification programs at the 13th International Exhibition on Electromagnetic Compatibility, (EMC 2008), held at the Beijing International Convention Center. Our Certification Workshop was attended by around 40 delegates. We were assisted at our exhibition booth and at the workshop by students and staff from our partner, Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications (BUPT). BUPT will be providing an EMC training program later this year intended for practicing EMC professionals who would like to hone their skills in preparation for the iNARTE examination, to be offered at BUPT in November 2008. Our partner in Nanjing, Southeast University (SEU) administered iNARTE examinations for EMC engineers in May 2008. All applicants succeeded in achieving a passing grade, and iNARTE had the opportunity to present certificates in person to those engineers who came to the Beijing Exhibition. SEU will be assisting iNARTE again this year at EMC China 2008 Exhibition in Shanghai, November 18 – 20. This year we will also offer the certification examination to EMC professionals at the end of the Exhibition schedule. In 2008, more than 500,000 jobs were lost in the U.S., the majority in manufacturing. The first quarter of 2008 has seen another 250,000 jobs disappear, and the pace is quickening. The EMC community has been particularly affected, as much of electronics manufacturing activity has moved to Asia. But many companies have retained their core research, development, prototype and testing departments, and this is where the future lies. iNARTE certification helps identify those individuals that can perform in these arenas.
