Conformity - November 2008 - (Page 56) NewsBreaks Polariscopes: Finally, GIA Instruments of Carlsbad, CA has announced the recall of about 8000 of its Illuminator Polariscopes. GIA reports that the recalled polariscopes can have a ground wire missing, posing the risk of electrical shock to consumers. The company has received four reports of consumers experiencing minor electrical shocks from the instruments. The recalled polariscopes were sold through GIA schools, GIA’s web site, product catalogs, distributors and trade shows nationwide from January 1996 through June 2007 for between $225 and $340.
