Conformity - November 2008 - (Page 58) NewsBreaks Ten years ago UL/U.S. Customs Crack Down on Counterfeit Marks “Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the U.S. Customs Service have embarked on an aggressive program that actually stops the importation of illegally marked goods at the border. In partnership with the Customs Service, UL has trained more than 1000 Customs agents and inspectors on how to identify counterfeit UL marks on imported products. When agents identify products suspected of bearing counterfeit marks, they contact UL staff to check whether the products were actually tested and approved to UL standards.
