A UK-based company, Ad-Air has reportedly launched a new advertising service, offering companies the opportunity to run monster-sized advertisements on the approach path to London Heathrow airport. The company says that it has also secured sites near airports in Paris, Geneva, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi. Ad-Air says that the advertisements will be displayed on screens as large as 20,000 square meters in size, and that advertisements could be developed that would produce a moving image that begins whenever a plane comes into sight. According to Paul Jenkins, the managing director of the company, this approach would help to ensure advertisers that their messages are seen in “clutter-free environments and moments free of any other commercial messages.” Sprint, which agreed to pay $2.4 billion for 137 spectrum licenses.” Conformity, December 2006 Five years ago Commission Releases Report on UWB Emissions “The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released a report on emissions from ultra-wideband (UWB) devices that may quell some concerns about the potential for interference with the global positioning system (GPS). The report, prepared by the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology (OET), details the results of a study measuring the levels of ambient radio noise that exist in the GPS frequency bands at a variety of indoor and outdoor locations. The results of the tests show that the GPS frequency bands generally have very low levels of ambient radio noise in outdoor environments.” Conformity, December 2002 Ten years ago FDA Will Require EMC Test Results for Conformity Assessment “Medical Devices, Diagnostics & Instrumentation (MDDI) reports that the FDA is expected to require those manufacturers who wish to declare conformity with IEC 606011-2, the international standard for electromagnetic compatibility for medical devices, to provide actual test data and other documentation that substantiates the manufacturer’s declaration of conformity with the standard’s emissions requirements.” Conformity, December 1997.
