The pillars are: n Do you have the right real estate organization, a systematic way to connect to the business? n Does real estate have the right governance? Does it have the right mandate from the business? n Is real estate not only the keeper of the technology and data, but is it up to date and accurate? n Do you have the right performance management? Do you have the right metrics to link real estate to the business? n Do you have consistent execution policies and procedures around transactions, projects, facilities management, etc.? “We identified 29 different dimensions and traits to work with our cli- ents to score them to see where their foundation is today and where are the highest priorities to either shore up the foundation or build the foundation,” Noha explains. “Then they can engage the business and develop the strategies that close up the gap between the ‘offer’ and the ‘ask.’ ” competitiveness in the cre profession His advice for CRE professionals to ready themselves to be as competitive in this ever-changing industry? “I think there are some foundations skills that are important to have. One is certainly a financial background. If you are going to be a partner to the business you have to understand what is important to the business and eventually that comes down to whether the business is making money,” Noha advises. “You also must develop a real estate skills set. “You don’t have to be an expert in each area, but for me at JLL, I started out in our property management business, I’ve gone through our transaction business, I’ve done a number of different things,” he continues. “I think varied experience in this industry is important.
