(3,500 – 10,000 sq. m.) and are offset by two major atria. There’s plenty of natural light and strong visual connection to other parts of the new building. Plus, there’s a curvature to some of the interior walls. When combined with what Hamilton calls “our people-branded environment,” there’s been a wide rate of acceptance among staff for the new surroundings. The “people-branded environment” is based on ten“aspirations” that Hamilton outlines as defining the ANZ value set: Outperformance Customer Focus One ANZ Super Regional Technology enabled Leadership Culture Energetic people Productivity Healthy building A major benefit for ANZ will be the consolidation of about 6,500 staff into 833 Collins Street. Compared to the 22,000 employees working in Australia and 36,000 globally, the new location signals a significant critical mass in the making. Of course, pre- and post-occupancy data are critical to knowing if the project is an overall success, and – ultimately – if it serves as an enabler of the various businesses the bank runs. The project is conducting surveys and collecting data to “validate the model and the approach” and to “benchmark against the future performance and use of the space,” so that performance metrics promise to keep this case as one worth watching. Preceding this data set are Hewitt survey findings placing ANZ No. 1 in staff engagement among financial institutions in Australia – New Zealand. Acknowledging a blended skill set incorporating but extending beyond CRE competencies in an interdisciplinary if not hybrid way, Hamilton concludes: “I’ve brought together different aspects of my career to bring a solid understanding of what Property can do to help the businesses progress.
