Since then, we have attended five conferences in North America and Asia, presented at three and I personally have taught a few Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR) classes. leader : education is needed at a corporate level so that these companies understand the importance of CRE and the benefits of having staff focus on the CRE function. leader : ability ball rolling here eventually, but I don’t see this really taking-off for at least another five years. leader : Sustainability in CRE services has become very important in our industry. Do you see that continuing in Asia? Why, or why not? Meseroll : What do you think are some of the critical competencies needed in today’s internal CRE organizations? Meseroll : In your experience, how does the CRE industry in Asia differ from other parts of the world? Meseroll : CRE here is much less developed. While foreign multinationals have a large portfolio of properties and distinct CRE functions, the concept of a CRE function is still in its early stages for most Asia-based multinationals and not even a consideration for most local companies. More Generally, it’s not given nearly the importance in Asia that it is in North America or Europe, with the exception of the more developed markets such as Japan, Korea and Singapore. However, I think it will grow to be more important as foreign multinationals located here bring their concerns for sustainability with them.
