The Granite State excels in a number of important quality-of-life measures, boasting low crime, low poverty, and high income levels, as well as a well-educated population. Joining New Hampshire at the top of the rankings are Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota, and Iowa. fuJItsu traNsactIoN solutIoNs to Move North aMerIcaN hq to texas Mid-Atlantic, Mountain West and Pacific regions; 14 of the top 20 states are in these four regions. In contrast, 15 of the 20 lowest-ranking states are in the Midwest, Great Plains and Southern regions. ecolaB estaBlIshes eMea headquarters IN sWItzerlaNd Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc., a global technology solutions provider to specialty and grocery retailers, will relocate its North American headquarters to the Fujitsu campus in Richardson, Tex. Employees began moving to the masterplanned campus in May, and will occupy approximately 90,000 sq. ft. (8,361 sq. m.) Fujitsu Transaction Solutions will join five other affiliate Fujitsu companies on the campus. Following the move, Fujitsu will become the eighthlargest employer in Richardson, with about 1,500 employees on the campus. The location encompasses more than 100 acres (40 hectares) and includes an on-site employee cafeteria, fitness center, manufacturing and R&D facilities, a centralized data center, global call center, and engineering and administration. kaufMaN fouNdatIoN raNks top states traNsItIoNINg to “NeW ecoNoMy” Ecolab Inc. a provider of cleaning, food safety and health protection products and services for the hospitality, foodservice, healthcare, and industrial markets has established its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) headquarters in Switzerland. The new offices in the Zurich suburb of Wallisellen will house the EMEA leadership team whose focus is to drive the strategic leadership and management of the region. Ecolab, with world headquarters in St. Paul, Minn., has been operating in the EMEA region for more than 60 years and is represented in 35 countries in the region. It employs approximately 7,000 people throughout the EMEA region. chINa uNveIls clIMate chaNge plaN Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington and California top the list of states that are leading an economic transformation in adapting to an increasingly global-, knowledge- and innovation-based New Economy, according to The 2007 State New Economy Index, recently released by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF). Regionally, the New Economy has taken hold most strongly in the Northeast, China has unveiled its first national plan for climate change, saying it is intent on tackling the problem but not at the expense of economic development, reports BBC.com. The 62-page report reiterated China’s aim to reduce energy use by a fifth before 2010 and increase the amount of renewable energy it produces. But it also repeated Beijing’s view that responsibility for climate change rests with rich westernized countries. The report comes ahead of a G8 meeting that will focus on global warming.
