Through the first 11 months of 2007, sales in Mexico dropped 2.7 percent to 973,502 vehicles. General Motors sold 19,635 vehicles in Mexico in November, more than any other automaker. But GM’s sales dipped 6.1 percent from November 2006. GM’s sales in Mexico slid 5.8 percent through the first 11 months of 2007 from the year-earlier period to 203,844. Nissan Motor Co. came in second in November, selling 18,161 vehicles, an 11.0 percent drop from last year. Through the first 11 months, Nissan’s sales totaled 188,989, down 4.0 percent. Ford Motor Co. took the No. 3 spot for the month, selling 13,746 cars and light trucks. Ford’s November sales dropped 17.1 percent, outpacing its 15.1 percent decline in sales through the first 11 months of 2007 to 141,562. Chrysler LLC was the only high-volume seller in Mexico to post a sales gain in November. The company sold 11,793 cars and light trucks, up 2.2 percent from last year. Through the first 11 months of 2007, Chrysler sold 112,111 vehicles in Mexico, only 48 fewer than a year earlier. Smaller-volume automakers posting sales gains in November were BMW AG, Honda Motor Co., Mazda Motor Corp., Fiat S.p.A., Suzuki Motor Corp., Mitsubishi Motors Corp., Mercedes-Benz, Porsche AG, Toyota Motor Corp. and Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., which makes Subaru cars. It was the first increase since July 2006. The total does not include conversion vehicles. As of Oct. 1, the association no longer tallies shipments of those vehicles. Conversion-vehicle manufacturers have ended their affiliation with the association. Those makers are considering individually whether to join the National Truck and Equipment Association. Motor home shipments also rose in October, increasing 4.5 percent. A total of 4,600 motor homes were shipped to retailers in October, up from 4,400 a year earlier. Through October, motor home shipments were up 0.4 percent compared with the first 10 months of 2006.
