That’s a drop of 470,994 units or 3.0 percent from 2006. Nearly half of the unit loss was in Class 4-8 trucks. Of the Detroit 3, only Chrysler LLC produced more vehicles in 2007 than in 2006; its output was up 0.3 percent. Ford Motor Co.’s production was down 5.4 percent, and General Motors’ output fell 7.6 percent. Transplants and joint ventures as a whole were up 4.0 percent in 2007. Five automakers posted a record production year: Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Toyota. North America production fell 27.7 percent in December from December 2006.
