vehicle as part of its 100th anniversary celebration. GM, which marks 100 years on Sept. 16, so far has shown only concept versions of the Volt. “The rumors that a production version of the Volt will show up at the celebrations are true,” a GM source told Automotive News Europe last week. “The car will be a true representation of what the production version looks like and be somewhat different from the concept versions.” It will be shown to employees and the media at GM’s Detroit headquarters. Ford: Buyouts are a tough sell NEW YORK — Ford Motor Co. says it is finding it harder to get eligible employees to accept buyouts to retire or quit. Compared to earlier rounds of buyouts, Ford hasn’t changed the terms, but it has given eligible employees more time to decide, said Joe Hinrichs, group vice president of global manufacturing and labor affairs. Ford also is telling employees eligible for retirement that Ford is cutting overtime, so they may not earn that much more by working than they would by retiring.
