NATIONAL MINORITY SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL — Jethro Joseph, 60, to a two-year term as chairman of the board of directors of the Business Consortium Fund, a nonprofit business development unit. Joseph is senior manager of diversity supplier development for Chrysler LLC and has been on the Consortium Fund’s board since 1996. He is a member of the board’s executive committee and most recently was vice chairman and treasurer. The Business Consortium Fund provides financing and support to minority-owned businesses. STOUT RISIUS ROSS INC. — Richard Rossmann, 63, to managing director. He had been president and CEO of Symtec Investment LLC, a manufacturing technology company. Steven Hoffman, 55, to vice president. Ryan Beene rbeene@crain.com The sales decline that has gripped the U.S. medium- and heavy-duty truck market shows no sign of slowing. In December, medium- and heavyduty truck sales fell 43.5 percent from a year earlier to 30,342 vehicles. For all of 2007, 398,941 mediumand heavy-duty trucks were sold, a 31.4 percent decline from 2006. Class 8 trucks, the best-selling class in the segment, were hit hard in December. Sales of Class 8s fell 54.5 percent to 12,034. For all of 2007, Class 8s fell 46.8 percent to 150,965 vehicles. Sales of Class 5 trucks fared better in December but still fell 21.5 percent to 4,019. In 2007, sales of Class 5s totaled 44,925, down 9.2 percent. Ford continued to lead sales by brand in December. It sold 6,078 trucks in classes 4-7, down 39.2 percent. In 2007, Ford sold 94,003 class 47 trucks, down 6.4 percent from 2006. International Truck and Engine Corp.’s sales dropped 40.5 percent in December to 4,785. Freightliner sold 4,592 trucks in December, a 54.8 percent decline. Sales fell at every manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty trucks, both in December and in all of 2007.
