Zinn officials declined to give the projected cost of the North Miami, Fla., store — expected to be larger than 1 million square feet, with 116 service bays and a parking structure meant to hold 2,000 vehicles. German engineering company plans Ala. factory HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — German precision engineering company Selzer Fertigungstechnik & Co. plans to build a $22 million plant in Auburn, Ala., to make components for German transmission supplier and Chrysler LLC partner Getrag AG. Selzer, of Driedorf-Roth, Germany, makes metal components and subassemblies for gearboxes, engines, braking systems and professional electrical power tools. FRANKFORT, Ky. — Certified Tool and Manufacturing Corp. will close its plant in Elk Grove Village, Ill., and consolidate operations at a factory here. When the move is completed, the Frankfort factory will house stamping presses, multislide machines and injection-molding machines. Certified Tool provides metal and plastic products to automotive customers and others. DETROIT — ZF Group North American Operations will provide six-speed automatic transmissions to Nissan Motor Co. for the automaker’s U.S. light-commercial vehicle line. The automatic transmissions will be ZF’s first made in North America. They will be produced in Gainesville, Ga., for Nissan’s plant in Canton, Miss. ZF expects production to begin in 2010. ZF, with North American headquarters in suburban Detroit, produces transmissions and axle drives for cars and light trucks.
