■ An inside look at Shaheen Chevrolet's new express service center
T
he new oil change and
tire center at Shaheen
Chevrolet in Lansing,
Mich., has attracted
visitors from as far away as China
since it opened in April. The
sheer size has been the draw, says
Dave Wright, fixed operations
director. At ground level, there
are eight service bays in four rows
- six of them focusing on oil
changes and two designed for tire
service. The support system
below, built with plenty of
headroom, includes 400-gallon
vats of windshield solvent and
concrete pedestals for specialists
who toil beneath cars. It's all
designed to get customers in and
out within a half hour - and keep
them coming back.
