The book is meant to set the record straight about her daughter and tell both the good and the bad, she told publishers. ¶ Whitney Houston had a troubled marriage and a long history of drug abuse before she accidentally drowned in a hotel bathtub the weekend of the Grammy Awards, in February. ¶ Steve Fisher, the Los Angeles-based agent representing Cissy Houston, concluded the deal with HarperCollins in recent weeks. ¶ Terms of the sale could not be learned, though insiders had expected the price tag to reach seven figures if Ms. Houston was willing to be frank about her daughter’s troubles. ¶ Neither a spokeswoman at HarperCollins nor Mr. Fisher responded to requests for comment. —matthew flamm A pint-size supporting role Jones Wood Foundry, a laid-back British pub on the Upper East Side, has attracted some star power in the short 15 months it’s mine,” said Mr. Hicks, who got to know the guitarist through a Connecticut restaurant owned by the rock star’s niece and nephew where Mr. Hicks is a consulting chef. And it’s expanding its realm. For the first time, the 4-year-old, four-day event will feature a runway show at Bloomingdale’s that includes popular brands like Michael Kors, Eli Tahari and Eileen Fisher. “The mission is to encourage plus-size women to look for more fashion choices,” said Gwen DeVoe, who founded FFFW, noting that as many as 600 people are expected for the shows. “It’s a way to say to regular fashion, we can do this, too; I don’t know why we’ve been excluded.” Though most of the runway shows cost $40 to attend, the Bloomingdale’s catwalk is free and open to the public. A show featuring independent plus-size designers and another highlighting the curvy wares of retailers and boutiques will be held at the financial district’s Broad Street Ballroom. In addition, FFFW will offer a new educational series to teach existing and would-be entrepreneurs about retail businesses and social-media blogging in the full-figure category. Sponsors for the events include plus-size retailers Sonsi and Ashley Stewart. —adrianne pasquarelli BAWDY B’WAY TIRED OF MOVIE musicals? Try Spiegelworld’s new show, Empire.
