News Sin City SYMPOSIUM 2 1 The 2013 Redken Symposium took Las Vegas by storm, with an array of launches, competitions and classes to rival even the biggest industry events. Among the symposium’s many exciting announcements were the launches of the Redken Style Station app’s journal feature, the company’s Diamond Oil haircare line and—its collaborative effort with Rowenta—the new Steam Infusion straightening iron. Guests were also treated to the presentation of the 2013 Redken Salon of the Year Awards, given to five salons across the country in categories such as Rising Star, Up and Comer and Education Excellence. “We are honored to present these well-deserved awards to five salons that have embraced Redken’s professional edge,” says Karen Fuss-Zipp, VP and General Manager of Pureology and Redken. “Their hard work and dedication has no doubt resulted in providing exceptional service for their clients and serving as an inspiration within the professional salon industry.” The second major contest of the event was the Ultimate Chromatics Haircolor Contest, which brought more than 500 entries from stylists nationwide and was judged by a panel of renowned Redken artists that included Redken Haircolor Consultant David Stanko and Redken Creative Consultant for Color Tracey Cunningham. “This contest has exceeded all of our expectations,” notes Sheri Doss, VP of Education. “We are honored to see such talented stylists showcase their skills on the main stage during our industry’s premier event.  They are an inspiration to all stylists.” Winners were acknowledged for achievements like Most Dramatic Makeover, Most Brilliant Red and Avant-Garde Look. Classes—taught by industry giants like Ann Mincey, Redken Education Artistic Directors Kris Sorbie and Sam Villa, and brand ambassador and hairstylist Rodney Cutler—were held under intriguing titles that included “Blonde Nation,” “Whirl, Swirl, Twist, Turn,” “Myths: Busted!” and “Celebrity Sightings.” Hosting 9,551 total attendees, representing 33 countries and offering 22 classes, the event was a numerical feat of epic proportions—and did we mention the performance by none other than OneRepublic at the Symposium Bash?
