Paralysis Resource Guide - (Page 1) MESSAGE FROM THE PRC DIRECTOR The Paralysis Resource Center was created in 2002 to provide a comprehensive, national resource to help people living with paralysis, their caregivers and loved ones promote health, foster community involvement and improve quality of life. What we do is provide a roadmap to help people navigate the chaos of paralysis. Our message, like that of our namesakes and founders, Christopher and Dana, is full of hope. It is upbeat and encouraging, credible and realistic. Paralysis can be a devastating occurrence – for the affected individual, of course, but also for families and friends. The PRE, formed through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, offers information (in English, Spanish and several Asian languages, including Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean) directly by telephone from our team of information specialists (toll-free 1-800-539-7309), by email or online at www.paralysis.org, and in print here in the Paralysis Resource Guide. The PRC is also a large library, open to the public in Short Hills, New Jersey; our books, videos and other materials are available for loan to anyone, at no cost, through the national interlibrary loan program. Click on our homepage for details on the collection, and on the loan procedures. If we can be of further assistance, contact us by phone or email.
