Trademark Insider® - Annual Report 2007 - (Page 2) 2007 Annual Report Overview: Letter from the Editor Welcome to the 2007 year-end edition of the CSC Trademark Insider®, a quarterly publication that tracks the U.S. Trademark Industry and its leading law firms, companies and practitioners. This year-end issue includes our standard industry coverage and rankings, as well as the announcement of the 6th annual Trademark Insider Awards, given to the top U.S. trademark law firms and individual attorneys. 2007 Year in Review When it comes to trademarks, 2007 went out with a big bang, setting a new record for annual trademark filings. A remarkable 304,407 trademark applications were filed with the USPTO in 2007 – the highest Bruce Winn annual filing volume we’ve recorded since we began tracking data in 1997. Each quarter in 2007 surpassed 2006 quarter totals, with Q4-2007 closing the year at 73,000 filings. With total filings exceeding the quarter million milestone for the third year in a row and breaking the 300,000 marker for the first time, one has to wonder what 2008 has in store for us… A complete review of industry filings and the top trademark markets is on page 11 of our report. 2007 Trademark Insider Awards We are extremely pleased to announce the recipients of the 2007 Trademark Insider Awards beginning on page 12. This year marks the sixth anniversary of our awards recognizing the outstanding achievements of law firms and individual attorneys in the trademark industry. Again this year, awards will be presented to the top 25 national and regional law firms and top 25 individual attorneys during the INTA® Annual Meeting. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
