T he Pikes Peak region is a veritable gold mine of activities, attractions, historical sites, natural wonders and scenic beauty. The following easyto-plan itineraries are designed to help you plan your days exploring our area, keeping in mind how much time to allow for each attraction and the individual interests and desires of everyone in your group. With more than 50 attractions in the region, it’s easy to mix and match to create your own plans. Most of these itineraries are 10-hour days, taking into account time for driving, meals and the time spent at the various attractions and activities. before you go to the top of Pikes Peak. Use a sunscreen with a high SPF factor whenever you are outside, as our warm sun can cause you to burn if you're out in it for long hours, even on slightly cloudy days. Our climate is a bit unpredictable, so it's best to dress in layers, ready for clear skies one minute, rain the next, and perhaps snow depending on the time of year. It's also wise to plan outdoor activities during the early morning when weather is likely to be at its best. Get lots of rest and -- did we mention? -drink lots of water. What You Absolutely Need to Know Most folks who come to this region are usually interested in Pikes Peak and reaching its summit. Because the altitude of Colorado Springs is over 6,000 feet, and the mountain is over 14,000 feet, we recommend this activity be slated for the later days of your time here, so your body has a chance to acclimate to our higher altitudes.
