Going for the Gold in 2009 We are so pleased you are planning or have made a trip to Colorado Springs. This is certainly a challenging year for all of us. But the annual family vacation or romantic weekend getaway is something that most Americans don’t want to give up, knowing that time off in a new place can bring families and friends closer together and refresh the mind, body and spirit. While in our region, we invite you to “Go For the Gold!” We are celebrating our history and heritage throughout the year as we commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Pikes Peak or Bust Gold Rush. We are also celebrating the decision of the United States Olympic Committee to confirm Colorado Springs as its home town. You can take a free tour of the U.S. Olympic Training Center and see Olympic athletes in training. Or “Go For the Gold” yourself at the 2009 State Games of America (July 30Aug 2). And after our wonderfully refreshing summer, come back again in early fall to view the spectacular golden leaves of the quaking aspens.
