Donkey Derby Days June 26-28 – Cripple Creek Enjoy a festive parade and cheer on your favorite donkey as they participate in a 12-mile race from Victor to Cripple Creek. July 30 – Aug 2 – US Air Force Academy Compete, or cheer on your favorite athletes, in this Olympic-style competition with over 30 separate events. State Games of America Ride for the Brand Ranch Rodeo Concours d’Elegance September 6 – The Broadmoor This elegant show features the best antique, classic and historic race cars, limited-production sports cars and vintage motorcycles from all over the United States. July 4 – Norris-Penrose Event Center Real working cowboys compete in a series of fun team competitions including wild cow milking! Longhorn Cattle Drive on Tejon Street at high noon on July 3. Colorado Balloon Classic September 5-7 – Memorial Park It’s an amazing sight to see over 75 hot air balloons ascend into the deep blue Colorado sky. Weather permitting, balloons ascend each morning during the Labor Day weekend. Catch the BalloonGlo on Saturday & Sunday evenings. Great Fruitcake Toss January 3 – Manitou Springs Cake tossers compete for trophies and bragging rights as the hapless dessert is launched into space by a variety of mechanical and pneumatic devices. Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo July 8-11 – Norris-Penrose Event Center A premier rodeo competition sanctioned by the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association. Hoot ‘n holler for steer wrestling, bareback broncs, tie-down roping, bull riding and women’s barrel racing. Cañon City Music & Blossom Festival May 2-3 – Cañon City Features high school and junior high school bands from across the nation. El Paso County Fair July 18-25 – Calhan Entertainment, great food, animal competition, ice cream- and watermelon-eating contests, Paint Mine tours and more can be found at the Fair!
