One Week Countdown: See You at ATCA 56
nly 7 days to go, and ATCA 56th Annual Conference and Exposition will be upon us. ATCA returns to the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center October 2 – 5, 2011, and attendees can anticipate unprecedented networking opportunities, open dialogue on the most relevant issues in the industry, a sold out exhibit show floor of the leading companies, government organizations, and academic institutions of the air traffic community. And to top it all off – a celebration – ATCA is honored to recognize its 2011 Award and Scholarship recipients, respectively recognizing those who have made a contribution to the betterment of air traffic control in 2011, and those just starting in the field.
Leading Voices This year’s speakers will address issues of immediate importance in the aviation community, including but not limited to Fatigue, NextGen, and the National Airspace System. Keynote speakers include highly regarded leaders throughout aviation, among them FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt, followed by David Grizzle, Chief Operating Officer of the Air Traffic Organization-FAA, and Captain Eric Moody (Ret.), British Airways, who successfully navigated a 747 through volcanic ash in 1982, despite all four engines failing. Other keynotes are featured inside this and future issues of ATCA Today. Captivating Session Panels More innovative sessions include the Interactive Leadership Panel, with encouraged audience participation and a focus on open dialogue between panelists and attendees. The 2 p.m. session on Wednesday
will welcome all members of the Future Aviation Advisory committee, which provides information, advice, and recommendations to the Secretary of Transportation on ensuring the competitiveness of the U.S. aviation industry (planned discussion topics are on page 6). A Packed Show Floor We’re sold out! That means when you take a break from the General Session to view new products and services on the convention show floor, you won’t be disappointed. ATCA has consistently welcomed the top domestic and international companies making decisions in the air traffic community. The show floor is a great place to make business connections – or visit with exhibitors and fellow attendees at the Exhibitors Reception Honoring International Guests at 5 p.m. on Monday. Whichever aspect of the show you’re looking forward to, ATCA can’t wait to see you there!
