To this end, Cathy C. Harro, PT, MS, NCS, will present “Quality Improvement in Physical Therapy Specialty Practice: An Ongoing Process of Self Assessment” in her keynote presentation at the Postprofessional Certification Recognition Ceremony at the opening of the 2012 Combined Sections Meeting. Harro will discuss ABPTS’s extensive planning process of transitioning from a “recertification” model to a Maintenance of Specialist Certification (MOSC) model. Paralleling the American Board of Medical Specialties’ transition to a Maintenance of Certification (MOC) model in 2006, MOSC promotes continuing competence and currency in the knowledge and skills that define specialty physical therapy practice. MOSC is a necessary step of accountability to the public, and more specifically to the patients/families that we serve to ensure a certain level of quality and expertise in physical therapy specialty practice. Harro is an assistant professor for the clinical doctorate of physical therapy program in the College of Health Professions at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She received her entrylevel physical therapy training at the University of Illinois and her masters of science degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Her clinical practice is in homeand community-based neurological rehabilitation. Harro was board certified in 1993 as a clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy and recertified in 2003. She was appointed to the Neurologic Specialty Council in July 2004 and subsequently to ABPTS in 2008. She serves as the contact for the Orthopedic Specialty Council on the ABPTS. (Photo © City of Chicago) New CSM Format Makes it Easier Than Ever To Attend the Courses You Want I n response to participant feedback, CSM 2012 has made some scheduling changes to enhance your learning experience. Sessions will begin and end at the same time each day, with 30 minutes between sessions to provide ample time for attendees to get to their next session. Preconference courses on Tuesday, February 7, and Wednesday, February 8, are 8:00 am–5:30 pm. Conference sessions Thursday, February 9, through Saturday, February 11, are 8:00 am–10:00 am, 10:30 am–12:30 pm, and 3:30 pm–5:30 pm. CSM 2012 has made some scheduling changes to enhance your learning experience. All education session programming will occur at 1 of these locations: the Hilton Chicago, McCormick Place’s Lakeside Center, and the Fifth Floor of the McCormick Place’s South Building (adjacent to the Lakeside Center). Your attendance at CSM 2012 is equivalent to 1.8 CEUs (18 contact hours/CCUs). The number of CEUs awarded for each session at CSM will be listed in the onsite program.
