Like Manila Country Club, this private club and its three 9-hole Alpha, Bravo and Charley courses, as well as a par-3 executive layout, receive heavy play. With each 9-hole course closing for six months at a time, all three nines were almost completely rebuilt from tees to greens, including infrastructure and features such as bunkers, cart paths and bridges, up to and including a new lightning warning system. The course’s numerous water features were de-silted to improve quality and create wetlands, and drainage systems were greatly improved. The greens were also re-surfaced with Paspalum Sea Isle Supreme to better tolerate the course’s effluent water supply. From the beginning of the renovation project in September 2006 to its completion in April 2008, the club’s membership rose by 27 percent, from 7,484 members to 9,566. BY THE NUMBERS What the judges said: “This was a very sweeping renovation that completely repositioned the course.
